From the free-wheeling, but still disciplined, warbles of the Warbling Vireo and the Siberian Rubythroat we
come now to a paragon of order, the Black-throated Sparrow. Neat blocks of song march across the frequency-time
continuum instead of wriggling across it like a snake. Two very distinct song-types alternate faithfully. Each song-type
follows its own rules of assembly faithfully. It is all very neat, just as the bird is neat, a natty combination of black on white
against a backdrop of gray.
